When people talk about you, you’re relevant!

A trip to a family friend, who is a master Kinesiologist, for a tune up this week, led to many probing and personal questions.  The answers delivered gave insight as to why I’ve been feeling stuck and a much needed highlight on my ‘limiting thinking’ with some reflection around what I can and can’t control.

The week also culminated in our son’s Year 7 end of school celebration, where the principal shared many heartfelt words about his team (our children’s Custodians), the children, and the parents.

In an ideal world, our limiting thinking around the education of our children can have us using dated and no longer relevant belief systems that come from social and cultural conditioning.  That can include a lot of judgement that looks like our child is not good enough and needs to be different.   In our real world, all of our children are good enough and are unique.  We have no control over that.   What we have control over is - how we support them.  And love them unconditionally.   By making beneficial choices that may challenge us and our limiting thinking, we grow and we benefit the greater good by becoming relevant – now relevant!

For those who know or know of me - my natural tendency is to be a leader, an innovator and a risk taker.  When these three elements are in sync, I hum like the sweetly tuned sound of balanced harmonics.   This has delivered continued relevance, i.e. when it comes to being talked about.  Much of this talk has been positive, some fearful, some ill-informed, etc - however succinctly, it equates to relevance.  Relevance does not however mean you are universally liked, which like it or not comes with the job.

2020 has changed all our lives and that of our future generations.  Humanity has been forced to pivot (yep, an ‘on trend’ word).  If you don’t acknowledge that, then some genuine reflection might be warranted.  And no it is not all bad, in fact there is much good to come from this – personally, professionally and corporately.  On a personal note - that is, with the exception of needing to be COVID vaccinated, for those like me who would prefer to pass on yet another needle violating their being.

My take-away from this post is simple – I prefer ‘relevance’ rather than the opposite.

Having lost nearly 20kgs in excess weight over the last 3 months, de-stressed and refocused, I’m ready, physically and mentally fit, and eager for my next leadership adventure.

My affirmation to assist with the delivery of this outcome is – “I accept my perfect career opportunity!”

And for the record, I always back relevance over its opposite, primarily because humanity needs leaders that dream and deliver.    And I can control that I dream and deliver.
