Some Career Highlights
Doug launched the super successful Sit Down Comedy Club @ Dockside in Brisbane with the show ‘Love Gone Wrong’ starring Wendy Harmer, in 1992. The Sit Down Comedy Club remains an entertainment leader for comedy aficionados to this day.
During 2019, as a Non-Executive Director at Club Super, Doug championed an appropriate merger strategy and significantly contributed to the successful merger with the $43 Billion Fund, Hostplus.
Opened the first under license AROMAS Coffee Shop in Australia.
In collaboration with Donna, his partner, rebranded graphically, online, and structurally – physical presence, the Professionals Real Estate Group throughout Australasia.
As CEO, created + delivered (annually over 6 years) the Australasian Hospitality and Gaming Expo (AHG), the largest 2-day Hospitality & Gaming Expo in Queensland.
In 2020, won an 8-year advocacy battle with the Queensland government and successfully halted the introduction of more casinos into the state.
Built Rumpoles Restaurant – Queensland’s most awarded restaurant of that era, responsible for modernising Queensland’s dining scene forever. Inclusive of a large 300 staff corporate catering division that serviced events including the Gold Coast Indy Grand Prix and Expo 88.
